So, for those of you that know me... You're going to probably feel some sympathy and humor, too, after hearing this story...So, everyday I scurry around on the ship routinely going from here to there... one day about a week ago... I was in a hurry to go up a ladderwell. Seaman Alderman, in Deck Dep, was cleaning the ladderwell and it was wet. I tried to hurry and run up the ladder past her but I wasn't successful. My bottom foot ended up sliding down the ladderwell while my top shin fell very hard on to and down the steel ladder. It was hard to walk at first and I immediately noticed some blood. Yes, I "fell" up the stairs.. haha. So, it was numb for awhile... and I had to ice it. It was just a minor scrape, so it looked to be. Then I went swimming in the water, as well as a few pools, at the beach in Senegal .. maybe not such a great idea. Long story short, they almost put me in SIQ today for 48 hrs because the Senior Chief said it was so infected that there was some cellulitis starting to occur. He drew a line around the open wound on my leg, that still has no scab, to see if it gets bigger. They also put me on some oral antibiotics. They ended up not putting me SIQ.. but I have to go back tomorrow morning and afternoon to get the status of it........Thanks Africa....... Haha..

This website is for family and friends to easily obtain updates on my adventures in the Navy. Internet connection at sea may be intermittent so updates will most likely be sporadic as well as my response to you. I'll be in the Virginia Beach area until the end of July before going to meet my ship on deployment.
