So I got my flu shot today... and my arm is killing me. The medical department called it a Flu Shot-EX. (Flu Shot Exercise) to which I almost died laughing after hearing that. 0800-1800 everyone was supposed to go down and get 'er done. I doubt everyone made it but they should by the time we get back. We also had to fill out the medical sheets to let us back in the country after deployment. We were lucky that we weren't in direct combat for all of deployment. There were spaces on the sheet that I can't imagine having to fill in... how many dead bodies did you see.. approx how many people did you kill... do you have nightmares.. can you sleep.. did you catch such and such disease.. I have been pretty lucky I guess. I have been sick more than I would have liked with a kidney infection and also then a severe staph infection in my leg where I cut it.. that almost turned into cellulitis where the cells started dying (for all you med school folk:) ). I had a long chat with my division today about 1. doing their job properly in Combat and 2. paying proper respect to people. Everyone that is E-7 and below in Combat received a counseling chit today. It was a warning that goes in their ship record.. not service record. If they mess up again..then it goes to the next level. I'm tired of being held accountable for laziness and disrespect. It is hard b/c I don't stand watch in Combat anymore. I am on the bridge as Junior Officer of the Deck.. so I have to believe what people say that stand watch in Combat. T-20 Days baby!!

This website is for family and friends to easily obtain updates on my adventures in the Navy. Internet connection at sea may be intermittent so updates will most likely be sporadic as well as my response to you. I'll be in the Virginia Beach area until the end of July before going to meet my ship on deployment.
